If you think Weebly isn’t the right platform anymore and are looking for a way to deactivate your Weebly account, you’ve come to the right place.

I’ve used Weebly for my first website. While it was great and easy to use, the limited features left me feeling frustrated.

That’s why I ventured out and tried other platforms.

At last, I’ve finally found my all-time favorite website builder and deleted my Weebly account, after having migrated my websites.

In this article, I will tell you how to safely delete a Weebly site and move it to Zyro in a few simple steps:

  1. Backup your Weebly website
  2. Import your website to Zyro
  3. Transfer your Weebly domain name to the new platform
  4. Deactivate your Weebly account
  5. Confirm cancellation of all Weebly services

Let’s get started.

1. Back up your Weebly website

Before you delete your Weebly account, you’ll need to create a backup of your website first. This way, you’ll still have a copy of your site on hand if something goes wrong.

To do so, sign in to your account and go to the Weebly site you want to back-up. Select Edit Website, then Settings.

Head to General and scroll down to input your email address under the Archive section. Click on Email Archive, and a zip file of your site backup will be sent to your email inbox.

2. Import your website to Zyro

In most cases, you have to recreate your Weebly website from scratch when switching website builders. This can take a lot of your time and energy.

Thankfully, Zyro offers a secure method to transfer your website to their platform. Simply open Zyro’s website importer and enter your Weebly site’s URL. Click Import Website and wait for the process to finish.

All of your pages will be automatically recreated, while the images and text will be imported to Zyro’s system.

Customize the look and feel of your site using the drag-and-drop editor. Feel free to add new elements like contact forms, CTA buttons, and social icons.

3. Transfer your domain name

Transferring your domain name enables you to use it even after you switch platforms. You’ll also manage and renew your domain through the new website builder.

First things first, we need to disable the registrar lock that prevents accidental changes to your domain.

Open your Weebly dashboard, click on your site name from the top right corner, and choose Domain.

Click on the domain name you wish to transfer, and select Disable under the Registrar Lock option. Scroll down to find the domain’s EPP code and copy it into your clipboard.

Now that that’s done, type in your domain name in Zyro’s domain transfer page and then submit your EPP code.

That’s it. Zyro’s automatic transfer will do the job for you, but the process might take up to 14 days to complete.

4. Deactivate your Weebly account and confirm cancellation

To remove or delete Weebly accounts, click on your site name again and select Account Settings.

Pick Manage Account and scroll down to find the Deactivate My Account button to delete your Weebly account.

Once you confirm the deletion, it will cancel all of the paid services on your account and unpublish all of your websites that you had on Weebly.

5. Optional: Erase all of your data

Even after you delete and cancel your Weebly account, the platform doesn’t completely remove all of your data.

If you want to delete your account information permanently, you will need to submit a request to the Weebly support team.
